I have been stuck at the Newark Airport for a few hours and think that the Heineken bar has a beautiful decor.

Irish beer is not always the best with pulled pork barbecue, but it worked for me at Black-Eyed Sally’s BBQ and Blues in Hartford Connecticut. Delicious pulled pork and great music. If you are ever in Hartford for business, definitely check it out.

A Cornish Pasty is a meat filled pastry. You can find many of the Cornwall Pasty shops at train terminals in the UK and of course, in Cornwall villages. I snapped a photo of this sign at the pasty shop in Paddington Station.

Im on my way to London so my wife and I partook of our traditional “see ya later” sushi feast in Herndon, VA. 6 separate sushi rolls were way too much for us and even our 3 year old helped out.

In Downtown Disney Orlando is Paradiso 37. This bar has overpriced food and pricier tequila drinks. One of the few places I’ve been that will allow you to do a ‘tequila tasting’ just like wine tasting. Most memorable is this huge tower of variants of agave tequila. The colors are spectacular.

There is something so beautiful about a backlit liquor bar. I don’t drink much liquor but I love the way colored lights play through those amber bottles. I actually have dozens of similar photos on my iPhone. I might upload a few more soon.

I was at AJ’s in Destin Florida during the snowlocaust of Northern Virginia in 2001. I was proudly enjoying the mid-sixties weather and sipping on this thing- The “Jack Monkey.” Its a rum drink mixed with banana liqueur and Jack Daniels. Tasted like a bent pina colada. Oh, and a Shocktop Beer to chase it with. Yeah, it was a good night.

The Holiday Belch Guide

LardButt published a hilarious Holiday Belch Guide here.

Some excerpts:

    • The Careless Whisper: An unintentional belch, this sometimes embarrassing variety occurs unexpectedly during the course of regular conversation. This is a very common, yet unplanned guest at many holiday parties.
    • The Sniper: Belching behind someone’s back in a social setting, then assigning blame to that person.
    • The Sidewinder: A partially concealed belch that is redirected through either side of the artist’s mouth via a twisting of the lips and face or a turn of the entire head.
    • The Sound-Check: A brief, deep and powerful belch sounding remarkably like the first note of an electric bass being tested prior to a concert. ‘Is this thing on??’
    • The Haunted House Door: The distinct creaking sound that can accompany an exerted inhale prior to a belch. Scary, too.
    • The Jackhammer: A violent staccato, dry belch carrying purpose and a touch of attitude. Usually quite loud and accompanied by shaking walls and/or vehicle interior.
    • The Swamp: A moist, gentle murmur of a belch dripping with fluidity and texture. Among the nastiest varieties and common after sipping of carbonated beverage or milkshake.
    • The Egg-Nogger: A holiday edition of the Swamp, the Egg-Nogger is accompanied by the aroma of nutmeg and mistletoe and frequently follows the too-rapid consumption of Egg-Nog.

Be sure to check out the rest!

The beer sounds like Royalty with a hardon and it tastes a bit fruity. Must be named after Prince Charles.

I was in Switzerland when I walked into a steakhouse and ordered a “draught” beer and this is what I got. I never turn down a chance at tasting new beers, but after this one, I may reconsider.

This is one tasty beer. It has spiced flavors of nutmeg and cinnamon, and it is great for a cold night. I had this one at an organic pizzeria in Boston. It has nearly 6% ABV so it will knock you on your ass and it forces you to mentally start Christmas shopping, mainly because the aroma and flavors remind you of Christmas. I had two of these and had to switch to an American light lager to cleanse the palate and slow down.

Had the rare opportunity to eat at a waffle house today. I noticed this flier pinned to the bulletin board. I guess waffle house doesn’t get many chances to be featured in a movie and they don’t give away collectors cups.

Did you know there are a few Five Guys restaurants that serve breakfast? This is a shot of the crew at the Dulles Airport location slinging eggs and bacon. They slap eggs on soft yummy hamburger buns and it makes one of the best breakfasts you can get in the morning.

I went to a tiny store in the English village and walked out with this huge battered cod fillet and pile of French fries coated with vinegar and salt. There was no where to sit and no utensils. It was too far to walk back to the hotel so I sat on the curb and ate the whole thing as rush hour traffic creeped slowly by.

Yeah it was yummy.

How lucky am I? My wife whipped this up for dinner tonight. Mussels in a white wine sauce with shallots and garlic poured over fresh fettucini.
