Milwaukee, Wisconsin is America’s Drunkest City
Congrats to Milwaukee! You are hereby awarded special recognition by Belch.Com as being not only the city that drinks the most, but by association, the city with the most belches!
From the AP here:
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee has been ranked by Forbes.com as “America’s Drunkest City” on a list of 35 major metropolitan areas ranked for their drinking habits.
Forbes said Tuesday it used numbers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to rank cities in five areas: state laws, number of drinkers, number of heavy drinkers, number of binge drinkers and alcoholism.
Minneapolis-St. Paul was ranked second overall; followed by Columbus, Ohio; Boston; Austin, Texas; Chicago; Cleveland; Pittsburgh and then Philadelphia and Providence, R.I., in a tie for ninth.
Rick DeMeyer, 28, said Wednesday as he was celebrating his birthday at G-Daddy’s BBC he could understand Milwaukee’s ranking.
“I have had people stay with me from London and Chicago, and they can’t get over how much we drink,” he said. “I guess we do.”

Brits Drink All of Germany’s Beer
During the World Cup in Germany, visiting British citizens are drinking Deutchland Dry. This makes the Brits the world champs for consuming beer! Cheers!
From the Mirror here:
ENGLAND’s massive army of World Cup fans is drinking Germany dry, it emerged yesterday.
Breweries warned beer could run out before the final because of huge demand from our supporters.
In Nuremberg, organisers revealed 70,000 England fans who flooded the city drank 1.2MILLION pints of beer – an average of 17 pints each.
Astonished bar keeper Herrmann Murr said: “Never have I seen so many drink so much in such little time.”
His bar at a fans’ tent in the city ran out after they drained all 32 of his 50-litre (11 gallon) barrels.
Herr Murr calculated Britons were shifting beer at a staggering rate of 200 pints per minute.
City official Peter Murrmann said: “The English proved themselves world champs. They practically drank us dry.”

Bud Buys Rock
Anheuser-Busch bought Rolling Rock Beer. Rolling Rock is a favorite beer of mine with a crisp light taste, and this marriage of the two companies will likely allow for a wider distribution of those green bottles. Lets hope that Bud keeps the labels and green bottles.
From the AP here:
Anheuser-Busch to Buy Rolling Rock Brands
Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc., citing consumers’ need for variety in beer, said Friday it will pay $82 million to purchase the Rolling Rock beer brand from InBev USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Belgian-Brazilian brewer InBev SA.
The deal will make Rolling Rock brands available to more consumers, St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch said. The company will begin brewing Rolling Rock and Rock Green Light in August. Anheuser-Busch, maker of the top-selling beer and light beer, Budweiser and Bud Light, is the nation’s largest brewer.
Anheuser-Busch said it will maintain Rolling Rock’s and Rock Green Light’s recipes, and will continue to sell the beers in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Vault: New Cola/Energy Drink Hybrid
This new soft drink has the highest amount of caffeine of anything else on the shelves, and it is being marketed by Coca-Cola, the distributor as “Drinks like a Soda, Kicks like an Energy Drink.”
It has a citrus flavor that may remind some of the old Surge beverage Coke discontinued a few years ago.
There is a hilarious new commercial that touts this drink to be the impetus behind a crafty farmer that tinkers with his scarecrow to eliminate crows, foxes and even camping hippies on his property. You can download and watch it from here.

New Cherry Soda is “Arousing”
There is a new soda coming to market that is purported to be an aphrodiasiac. Of course its not, but with all of the caffeine and guarana in it, it should definitely keep you awake. From the Local6.Com Site:
A new soda promising to sexually arouse the person drinking it will soon be available in stores nationwide, according to a Local 6 News report.
The drink, called Turn On, is made with guarana, ginseng and caffeine.
The soda was banned in France and Denmark, but makers insist it is safe and works as an aphrodisiac.
People who have tested the soda said it tastes like cherry soda.
“We watched a film and then afterwards I felt like my senses were more like turned on, like I could feel more, I felt more on my skin,” a tester said.
Doctors have already warned that the drink is not for everyone. Children, pregnant women and people with high blood pressure and diabetes should avoid the drink, according to the report.
A warning label on the can claims, “This beverage will arouse you.”
Turn On is sold online for $3.50 a can and will soon be available in stores, the report said.
If anyone out there has spent $3.50 on it and has tried it, let me know how it was. And can you mix it with rum or vodka?

Great Beer! Sam Adams and Sammy Light
Sam Adams is a great American Beer, and its company, the Boston Beer Company is a great American Beer Company. The regular lager beer stacks up against any lager in the World in my opinion, and the Sammy Light is one of my favorite light beers. The Website of the beer is very well made, albeit in Macromedia Flash. The also have some great wallpapers available in the downloads section. Swing over there and check it out, but then come right back here!

Great Beer! Blue Moon Belgian White
One of my new favorite beers is an American Wheat beer brewed by Coors Brewing Company. Currently this brew is becoming very popular in the Washington DC suburbs, and it tastes best when served with a slice of orange. Pick up a sixer in time for the game! Tell ’em Belch.Com sent you, and you will get a free funny look from the check-out clerk.
