Crazy Cat Ladies
For years, Matt Drudge has been tracking stories on his site about Crazy Cat Hoarders. I don’t know why. I guess Drudge has a morbid fascination on people that do that. I have to admit, I find it gruesomely fascinating as well. Im not too sure why that is.
Of course, its sad that animals are mistreated like this. But I think the curiosity for me is, what makes people do this? Where did the social structure of these people break down to the point that they decide that they prefer to live in squalor with cats rather than out and about with normal people? And how is it that it always takes family, neighbors or friends so long to intervene, if at all?
Each of these stories is bizarre in and of itself, whether its the way that the animals converted to cannibalism, the health hazards of the community, the trauma inflicted on the rescuers that have to clean up the mess, and crazy people in court vowing to get their pets back.
This story is bizarre too. In this Crazy Cat Lady Story, the daughters of the CCL apparantly found their mother dead among the cat scat and kittens and stuffed her rotting corpse into a giant plastic tub and left her there.

DOVER- A suspected cruelty to animals case has turned into a suspicious death investigation.
The Dover police say they were called to a home on Jefferson Court in Dover to remove about 110 cats from unsanitary conditions. The police said started removing the cats on Friday and returned on Monday to finish up. That is when they said they found a resident’s decomposed body.
The police said they were searching for cats in the upstairs bedroom when they found 84-year-old Mary Haas’ body inside a plastic storage container.
The police said after already finding dead cats in similar containers, they began searching everywhere.
The police said the home has been condemned by the city of Dover and the health department because of the unhealthy air quality and the unsanitary conditions. Investigators had to use oxygen tanks to breathe inside the home. They say the cats were diseased, and living in their own filth. They police also said all the cats had to be euthanized because of their diseases. They say some of the cats were already dead.
The police said they were first called to the home after neighbors complained about the pungent smell of animal feces. But even neighbors were shocked by the number of cats found and of course, the body. Neighbor Don Merchant said he has not seen Mary Hass out of her home in a long while.
The police say one of Mary Haas’ daughters told detectives her mother was traveling.
The police say warrants have been issued against the two sisters, charging them with abusing a corpse and third-degree conspiracy.
