It is usually pretty easy to get chicks to drop trou by feeding them Apple Martinis- simple vodka and sour pucker mix. Now getting those girls to say yes will be just a little easier with this tasty new Vodka:

And it comes in three flavors too- regular, chiffon and devil food’s cake. Check out their website here.

For the past year my wife and I have really enjoyed the Southern Comfort Honey liquer at local pubs. It is tasty and what a good sipping liquor drink should be. Jack Daniels must have peeked at the sales report for SoCo and they have now answered with a version of their own.

I have also really enjoyed sipping Jack Daniels in the past and am looking forward to getting to try this out.

NFL Lockout Bad News for Wings

by Webmaster

Hot Wings manufacturers (which I guess would be chickens everywhere) are lamenting that the NFL lockout would be bad business for Wing makers.

From WLS here:

With NFL owners and players in a standoff, the CEO of one of the nation’s largest chicken farms warns that a long-lasting football lockout would be bad news for a gameday staple, the chicken wing.
“It will be a major blow,” said Joe Sanderson Jr., CEO of Sanderson Farms, the fourth largest poultry company in the U.S. “If we don’t have Sunday football, the demand will go down tremendously, and of course, if that happens, the price will go down.”

Wings have become too expensive in the past few years. 7 bucks for a 4 pound bag of low quality, young wings is outrageous. If the price comes down, I fail to see how that would be a bad thing.

And with less wings being cut off of chickens, maybe the wings we begin to eat will be meatier and bigger too.

Remembering Burger Chef and Jeff

Today we drove by the old Burger Chef building in my hometown and I had to explain to my wife what a Burger Chef was. I do remember the restaurant having better tasting burgers than McDonalds, but the store just let itself go and faded away from my hometown in the late 70’s.

Jeff was the pudgy cook’s teenage sidekick or something like that. Not too sure what the actual relationship was, but Jeff had a way of making burger flipping seem like a viable career choice. You can check out Burger Chef’s wiki article here.

Beer! In Space!

I for one think its about time that we created a beer that can be consumed in comfort in zero gravity. Yay beer!

From ABCnet here:

An Australian brewery has completed the first batch of what might be the most niche beer to be made to date – a beer designed to be drunk in space.

“In space your whole entire face, including your tongue, swells,” says Jaron. “It becomes a lot harder to taste things in space. With all the swelling all of your taste buds become almost a bit numb, in a way,” he says.
Jaron says they’re fairly certain that if space tourists were served a regular beer they would not be able to taste it. Another problem with regular beer is that it can cause burping, which in space can get pretty messy.

“The second thing that can happen in space is what’s called wet burp,” says Jaron. “On earth when you burp, due to the gravity that’s acting on your stomach, the gas and the liquid separate, however in space… the gas and the liquid can both come up during a burp.”

This means a space beer must be low in carbonation.

Jack Monkey, originally uploaded by BelchSpeak.

I was at AJ’s in Destin Florida during the snowlocaust of Northern Virginia in 2001. I was proudly enjoying the mid-sixties weather and sipping on this thing- The “Jack Monkey.” Its a rum drink mixed with banana liqueur and Jack Daniels. Tasted like a bent pina colada. Oh, and a Shocktop Beer to chase it with. Yeah, it was a good night.

Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup Martini

Yes, this exists, but only God knows why. A martini infused with rum flavored with grilled cheese sandwich and tomato flavoring.

From the NYTimes blog here:

At Clive’s, a popular craft cocktails joint in Victoria, British Columbia, is an original creation that fuses childhood comfort food and molecular mixology. The result is what he calls a grown-up cocktail equivalent of a “toastie” (an Australianism for a grilled sandwich) and tomato soup.

The bar at Clive’s.Soole starts with his own batch of “grilled cheese rum” — dark, viscous Mt. Gay “washed” overnight with a real-live grilled cheese sandwich, a seeping process to extract essential flavors and infuse them into the rum, before adding fresh-muddled tomato and basil, salt, Lillet Blanc and Glenfiddich Scotch whiskey. The effect is extraordinary: the grilled cheese rum leaps off the palate with flavors of cheddar, bread and butter, mingled with a dark sweetness, while the Lillet Blanc prevents the texture from veering into Bloody Mary territory. Topping the cocktail off with a drop of Glenfiddich adds a hint of off-the-grill smoke and evokes sipping, grilling and dunking.

Yummy? Why not just blend a real grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup and vodka or rum in a blender with ice?

Its About Time: Canned Whiskey!

Pure. Whiskey. In a can.

From the DailyMail here:

It is a sight that will have whisky connoisseurs spluttering into their drink – a dram in a can.
A Panama-based company believes outdoor drinkers would prefer to crack open a tin rather than lug round a bottle of their favourite tipple.

Now bosses at Scottish Spirits – which retains an office in Glasgow – is testing out the novelty on its Caribbean and South American markets.

But does it taste good?

In the United Kingdom they have just ruined the cheeseburger. They put Brussels Sprouts on it. Gak.

From the Consumerist here:

Brussels sprouts are apparently associated with the holidays in the UK (maybe they are here too, though I’ve never come across it), so the King has created a Whopper topped with sprouts and emmental cheese.

Leftists in San Francisco will get the bright idea to substitute happy meal toys with brussels sprouts now.

Cheeseburger Mecca

I’m wrapping up a week of travel to the West Coast. After work I was dropping off the rental car and I saw a sign on the side of the freeway that made me take the next exit- An In and Out Burger sign. The burger chain is pretty famous out here and I’ve heard so much about it and I just had to give it a try. And yep, its pretty good.

I got their classic Double Double and the bread was nice a fresh and well toasted. There were two great all beef patties and a load of onions, plus fresh tomato and lettuce. And outstanding thin cut fries. Glad I got to go there. Next time I’m in LA I’m getting me some more!

Four Loko, originally uploaded by BelchSpeak.

Remember that recent story where a bunch of CWU students started piling and passing out at apart? There was a big suspicion that someone slipped roofies or date rape drugs into drinks. Nope. They were chugging this high caffeine and high alcohol drink Four Loko.

From KATU here:

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Central Washington University officials say a potent alcoholic beverage, and not drugs, was responsible for sending nine students to the hospital after passing out during a party at a Roslyn home.

CWU president James Guardino said the investigation revealed the students drank “Four Loko” — an alcoholic energy drink where one can has an alcoholic equivalent to 4-6 beers, and is caffeinated. The drink has been nicknamed “blackout in a can.”

These drinks are more potent than wine. And if these young adults get into a drinking contest they could get alcohol poisoning without knowing it

Seriously, would it still be called “Diet Coke” if it has 9 grams of fat? Okay, maybe ATKINS Diet coke.

Actually, this is just a photoshopped can, but this is just a good opportunity to link to this story here at NPR about Bacon-Palooza.
