Notorious Spammer Jailed for Molesting Orphans
Back in May of 2006, I wrote about Pharmaster, the spammer who took down BlueSecurity with a massive DDoS attack in retaliation for Blue impacting the spamming business. As part of the massive DDoS attack, Pharmaster also took down huge swaths of Blogger.Com and other systems simply because they did business with BlueSecurity. Pharmaster bragged at the time that if he couldn’t send spam, then there would be no internet.
Now it seems that Pharmaster is in jail for raping 50 orphans in Russia. From Brian krebs here:
A man known as one of the world’s top purveyors of junk e-mail has been imprisoned in Russia for allegedly molesting underage girls from a Moscow orphanage.
Leonid “Leo” Aleksandorovich Kuvayev, 38, is being held in a Russian prison awaiting trial on multiple child molestation charges.
Kuvayev, who holds dual Russian-American citizenship, was alleged to have molested more than 50 young girls he had lured away from one or more local orphanages. He was brought in for questioning after one of the girls reported the incident to Russian police, who reportedly found videotaped evidence of the incidents.
Kuvayev is widely considered one of the world’s most notorious spammers. Anti-spam group Spamhaus.org currently features Kuvayev as #2 on its Top 10 worst spammers list.
Spamhaus credits Kuvayev as being first mass-spammer to send junk e-mail messages as image files in order to evade text-based spam filters. Kuvayev may be the person known online as “Pharmamaster,” the individual who claimed responsibility for massive online attacks in 2006 that drove anti-spam provider BlueSecurity out of business.
What a scumbag. Hope he rots away in that Russian jail. I wonder if there will be any stupid campaigns by hackers to “Free Leo.” Hell, if they can support a shoebomber wannabe, they may as well throw their allegiance behind a child molester too.
Well knowing this has no comments yet, I think it is about that time for the FBI and interpol to step in and search Mr. Kuvayev’s house and confiscate his computer and every bit of info on it, and we are not just talking about the child porn pics,
But also other connections in the span issue but also likely connections that may lead to another piece of the puzzle to the Botnet hurders inclouding those with mainly ZeuS and those with Cutwail, Grum, and Rustock based botnets, not to mention notepad files that would hold the infomation reguarding on how to exploit Linux and Windows based systems and the source code that would lead to the demise of Bad Cow, but much more in connections with Russian Business Network and their remaining members in control of the ZeuS botnet, then that would be a BIG breakthrough that will hopefully shut down 2/3rds if not half of the entire spam operations in Russia and Western China.

I have a feeling they already have that equipment. Hopefully any information obtained wont stay hoarded within the Gov/sec community.
