OLPC XO Laptop Review
The Register has a well-written and thorough review here. Its about what I expected about the features and functionality of the software. Surprisingly, the hardware itself may show some promise, but just not for what this platform was intended for, which is to educate the world’s poor children.
The funniest part is when the applications crash, he calls it “One Coredump Per Child.” He also goes on to point out that the device actually only lasted for three days before a known and very common flaw in the keyboard mapping caused the XO to become inoperable. He tried to RMA it but was told that it would take a month to fix plus 2 to 4 weeks for shipping.
How come no one has started a program called One Stable Government per African Country?
LOL
They actually keep trying that but then someone always complains to the UN about “ethnic cleansing this” and “genocide that.”
But at least now the kids can keep score of all the government-sponsored murders on their nifty XO calculators.
Do you think that if the European nations never gave up control of their African colonies they’d be having this many problems?
I don’t know about that. I do know that there are quite a few modern destructive influences behind most of the problems on that continent. Most of them have to do with Islam and Islam’s legacy, including the original slave trade, the ingrained barbaric practices of breast ironing, FGM, virgin worship, capital punishment and so forth.
Now there is so much meddling by international bodies such as the UN with their stupid regulations tied to financial assistance- DDT is still banned, causing malaria deaths, electricity is not allowed to be used unless it is “green powered,” because of global warming, and the blue helmet soldiers do very little to stop the spread of war.
Because the blue helmets are too busy raping to be any help.
