Obamacare Website Tries to Claim Website Problems Were Due to DDoS; Fails
The awful, terrible, not very good website of healthcare.gov, which has been plagued by poor code, half-assed database implementations, and a worse underlying law and concept, keeps falling over despite Obama’s promises to fix it and get his minions enrolled in Obamacare. Now HHS tries to claim that the site was suffering from a distributed denial of service attack. The trick is that Arbor networks, who monitors the entire internet for DDoS attacks, says the government is lying that it was targeted by DDoS.
From CNN here:
Hackers have attempted more than a dozen cyber attacks against the Obamacare website, according to a top Homeland Security Department official.
The attacks, which are under investigation, failed, said the official.
“We received about 16 reports from HHS that are under investigation and one open source report about a denial of service,” according to Acting Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Roberta Stempfley of the Office of Cybersecurity and Communications.
The DDOS program, called “Destroy Obama Care,” was recently spotted on a “torrent” file sharing web page, and first reported last week on a blog by Arbor Networks, which said it found no evidence the program had actually been launched to attack the troubled federal portal for consumers to shop for health coverage.
“We have not monitored any attacks. We have not seen any sizable, or anything to believe that these problems are related to DDOS,” said Dan Holden director of security research for Arbor Networks, adding “I don’t believe that the problems with the site’s availability is due to any kind of DDOS attack.”
Yeah, Arbor didn’t see a DDoS attack. DDoSing a website is done for the lulz. The healthcare.gov site is lulzy enough already on its own. Also, I get a feeling that torrent file was likely planted on the sharing site by the Feds to track enemies of the state.
Well, the jackbooted Nazi Liberals will believe anything the “Chosen One” puke’s up as an excuse. Time and again, we’ve seen that truth and reality don’t matter at all…
