Yuck! Queens Subway Elevator Closed Because of Urine Damage
I’m so glad I don’t have to commute on public trains. One elevator in a Queens subway station has been rotted and disabled due to constant urination in the elevator car. And there’s even a restroom at this one.
From the DailyMail here:
New York subway station elevator has been put out of use because it has been urinated on so many times – rusting the metal floor and rotting the mechanics.
Long Island Rail Road today explained why the elevator at Woodside Station, Queens, was out of use almost half the year – and the reason certainly accounts for the station’s pungent smell.
Users of the station today said they were horrified not least because there is a restroom on the mezzanine level of the station.
Rail Road President Helena Williams told CBS New York it was a ‘vertical urinal problem’.
‘The mechanics of the elevator are constantly being contaminated,’ she said.
Someone should post a sign there telling employees to wash their hands before returning to work.
