Security Blogger Brian Krebs was SWATed
Cyber criminals do a lot of things to try to shut someone up. A popular trick is to try to get an adversary’s personal information published, aka Doxing, or shutting off an adversary’s power, or having their car towed. The most dangerous trick of all is SWATing, when an anonymous tipster calls the local police to report a hostage situation in the adversary’s home. This tends to get a SWAT team to storm the house with weapons pointed at family members. Its dastardly, dangerous and not funny. Brian Krebs, one of the best cyber security bloggers, had his home invaded by a Fairfax County SWAT team.
wow. fun day. house just got SWATted. even though I warned the FxCo Police 6 months ago this would happen.
