Chrome Warns Users that Drudge Report is Serving Malware
Like most internet users, I rely on Drudgereport.com to aggregate my news from around the country and world. This morning I tried to visit and Chrome popped up with this warning. Gotta love the binary blue thief.
Drudge of course makes his fortune from the advertising banners on his page. One advertiser has apparently been delivering malvertising, ad banners that cause redirections to malicious downloads. The problem is however, that Google Chrome is unable to block specific domains and urls, but instead it blocks the landing pages of internet sites that link to these external sites and domains. This is not a good strategy for web blocking and I hope in time that Chrome can get more intelligent and put INLINE blocks in place rather than just blocking the landing urls.
