Hemmingway was a Badass
Thanks to Genius Scan, I was able to capture this fabulous photo from the World Famous Sloppy Joe’s Pub in Key West Florida depicting a reluctant Ernest Hemmingway out for a fishing trip off the coast of Peru during the filming of the Old Man and the Sea, a film adaptation of his famous novella.
In 1956, motorized fishing boats and fishing techniques for large game fish like the 900 pound Black Marlin caught here, were still in the iron age of development. It is so amazing that they were able to haul this gigantic predator to shore, on a lark while filming a movie.
