View From Makapuu Point
Took a little hike today to the top of Makapuu Point. Its a 1.75 mile hike uphill 700 feet. The lighthouse at this location serves the eastern tip of Oahu and there is a ruined Coast Guard station at the top. The view was stunning. The hike up was breathtaking. (Ha!)
Spent much more of the day visiting other island locations. By far the coolest location I visited was the Schofield Barracks and Kolekole pass, accessible only with a DoD badge. It was over this pass that the Japanese zeros made the run at Pearl Harbor, but it is reserved for military munitions storage and Army training and off limits to the public. But wow, what a view from the top of the pass and the drive down was stunning as well.
Never been to the islands. Your photos are spectacular!
