Proud to Be a Virginian
HotAir seemed to be a little outraged that Virginia’s new Governor, Bob McDonnell, reinstated Confederate History Month in Virginia. I think its awesome.
I have said it before that I am a Virginian first and an American second. For almost 200 years before there was a United States, there was a Virginia. After 87 years of giving it a go in the United States, Virginia felt it needed to assert its own rights rather than live under tyranny. For a few years during the Confederacy, Virginia was the capitol of a new country. Only Texas and Texans can likewise lay the claim of having once been sovereign. And I think they feel the same way about their state that I do about mine.
Confederate History Month was never about wishing slavery would come back. It is a celebration of the sovereignty of Virginia, its deep culture and rightful place in history.
This is fantastic news for all the REAL reasons and none of the liberal bullsh… Ummm none of the made up ones
