Reason 652 to HomeSchool: Teachers Won’t Humiliate and Feminize Your Son
Everyone hates the school bullies. But its even worse when those bullies are your teacher and her assistant. In Cincinatti a boy with long hair had his teachers put his tresses in pig tails, snap photos and paraded him around other classes while other students pointed and laughed. I just hope he didn’t look as scary as this beast below:
From Cincinatti.com here:
Amanda Anoai was upset when her 11-year-old son told her in September that he’d been teased and bullied at school about his long hair.
But she says she was shocked when he told her who the bullies were: His teachers.
Anoi claimed in a federal lawsuit Monday that a teacher and a teacher’s aide embarrassed and humiliated her son by tying his hair into pig-tails, forcing him to stand in front of at least two classrooms and encouraging students to mock him with feminized versions of his name. Anoai said the teacher later snapped a photo of her son with her camera phone.
“It was embarrassing,” Anoai said. “They had no reason to touch my son, to embarrass him, to make him feel bad.”
Anoai said the incident traumatized her son and prompted him to transfer from Boyd E. Smith Elementary to a different school in the middle of the school year. She said she now drives her son to a school much farther from home because the district does not provide him bus service.
Neither the teacher, Tori Bothe, nor the school principal, Jill Chin, could be reached.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati, accuses school officials of violating the boy’s constitutional rights and failing to protect him against “offensive gender-based harassment.” The suit seeks unspecified damages.
In a lot of ways it sounds like this mom has over-reacted because her precious snowflake was laughed at. However, she is right. Those teachers should have kept their hands to themselves. And by definition, this was sexual harrassment.
The teachers weren’t fired. Just scolded with a verbal reprimand. And I hope this Mom gets lots of money because her son is probably going to need it to pay for his therapy in about 10 years. Thanks to Bryan for the story!
Did you get my newest reason where a kid was suspended for wearing rosary beads because they might be used as a gang symbol (but the principal doesn’t even believe they were here). I swear pretty soon all kids are going to be forced to go to school naked and with a military hair cut, after all wearing just about anything can be associated with gangs.
Bryan, I did see that, but didn’t blog it. Seemed like the story was in flux and it was going to work out okay. It reminded me of the time when kids were banned from wearing scarfs during the winter because stupid teachers thought it was gang symbols. “Search the site for scarf”
I still think its not to impossible to believe that we will one day send our kids to school naked, or maybe in pink clothes (what gang would use the color pink?)
