Every Parent’s Nightmare

I bash a lot of teachers on this site because teachers hold a sacred trust in the hearts and minds of parents. You expect your child to be trained, taught and nurtured by a teacher, not sodomized. So when that trust is violated, I point it out. In fact, more teachers rape children in a single month than all of the Catholic priests in the last 200 years. But this post isn’t about teachers. Its about another profession that holds a sacred trust to parents. The pediatrician.

Meet Earl Bradley, a former pediatrician who, instead of giving infants innoculations, was raping them, filming it, and transferring the videos to computers, probably for distribution to other online perverts.

It seems Bradley was a calculating predator. His exam rooms at BayBees Pediatrics, a solo practice, had Disney themes to make kids comfortable. But the Lewes, Delaware doctor wasn’t exactly interested in the health of his patients.

Police were first alerted earlier this month when a 2-year-old girl told her mom that the doctor had hurt her during a visit. A subsequent investigation found scores of videotapes Bradley kept to chronicle his assaults. And Bradley, it seems, was a particularly vicious creep.

In one video he’s shown raping a 2-year-old with a “violently enraged expression on his face,” according to police records. A detective described it as “one of the most violent and brutal attacks on a child of any age.” In another, he’s seen raping a kid who twice tried to run from him.

It turns out this doctor had complaints about him dating back to 1999 but police were never able (or capable it seems to me) of gathering any evidence on him. The New York Times says here:

Another pediatrician who used to work at the practice described Dr. Bradley’s habit of taking digital images of his patients and storing them on his computer. The doctor added that after he left Dr. Bradley’s practice, many of Dr. Bradley’s former patients transferred to him, complaining about Dr. Bradley’s “forcing children to get undressed when they didn’t want to or taking their children away from their parents for several minutes.”

One former office manager told the police in December 2008 that Dr. Bradley told her he installed surveillance cameras in his office that he could monitor from his home computer.

But the common element described in the testimony from witnesses and alleged victims was the doctors’ tendency to do unnecessary vaginal exams.

One such description came from the parents of a 12-year-old girl who was taken to see Dr. Bradley for a sore throat and pink eye.

Parents, never leave your child unattended with a pediatrician. If a pediatrician asks to see the child alone, just say no. Get another doctor and report the behavior to the AMA or to a state agency. Thanks to Red Alerts for the link to the story.
