Liberals Trade Blood for Oil
How many times during the Gulf War and the Operation Iraqi Freedom did you see liberal nitwits chanting about “No blood for oil!” Well Gordon Brown, the liberal leader of the United Kingdom traded a convicted terrorist who was supposedly sick for drilling rights in Libya. No blood for oil? Yeah right.
From the Times here:
The British government decided it was “in the overwhelming interests of the United Kingdom” to make Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, eligible for return to Libya, leaked ministerial letters reveal.
Gordon Brown’s government made the decision after discussions between Libya and BP over a multi-million-pound oil exploration deal had hit difficulties. These were resolved soon afterwards.
The letters were sent two years ago by Jack Straw, the justice secretary, to Kenny MacAskill, his counterpart in Scotland, who has been widely criticised for taking the formal decision to permit Megrahi’s release.
Pundits in the US are saying this is the end of the Brown government. There will be a call for a vote of no confidence and a new government will be formed. I don’t know, but I don’t think we are finished with seeing liberals surrender to terrorists yet. Hot Air points to another pundit that says that Obama had to have given some type of consent to this, but again, that is likely not the case. Just as Blair was not Bush’s lapdog, Brown is not Obama’s lapdog either. But I don’t think Obama objected very loudly to this terrorist’s release. Obama is too busy sending wiggers to the Bahamas.
