How Do You Shake Kids Out of The Overhead Maze?

My wife was having a big party at the house to sell candles/homegoods/cookingstuff/jewelry/etc so I took myself and the child away from the estrogen festival to a place where kids could be a kid! AKA Chuck E Cheese! 5 bucks of tokens gets an almost-two-year-old lots of rides in bucking monster truck simulators and several turns at the glass-enclosed token-operated train. It was dinner time so I ordered Chuck E’s smallest pizza for Cartney and let him take his pick of arcade games. When he started playing on the spiral slide which led to the overhead hamster-habitrail-esque maze for little kids, I didn’t worry. I’d seen him try to climb up slides before so I knew he’d never make it all the way up there. Uh, whoops!

Cartney climbed up into the overhead maze of toddler-tubes and didn’t come down for 40 minutes.  During this time, I kept running around underneath watching my kid crawl from one spot to another, but never choosing to come back down the slide.  I could see him from below due to the shadows his little feet and hands cast as he crawled, and through the occasional porthole in the tubes or open cargo net he would stop by and swing on.

Plus, I had to pee really bad, and since I was there alone with him, I couldn’t risk running to the restroom in case he decided to finally come down. See the kid in the overhead maze behind Cartney?  I was paying him tokens to stay up there and keep an eye on him.

I finally started yelling up the slide for Cartney to come down and eat pizza, and doggone if that didn’t lure him out of the overhead maze.  Is there anything pizza can’t do?
