FBI Equates Hackers With The End of All Mankind Due to Nuclear Annihialation
This is the time of year when federal agencies start making predictions of doom and gloom if their precious budgets aren’t approved by the new Congress. As a case in point, the assistant (to the) director of FBI’s Cyber Crime division, Shawn Henry, made a speech saying that hackers can make the world end and there is no one powerful enough to stop it. Except for maybe him and Jack Bauer.

From Australia’s ABC here:
Shawn Henry, assistant director of the FBI’s cyber division, told a conference in New York that computer attacks posed the biggest risk “from a national security perspective, other than a weapon of mass destruction or a bomb in one of our major cities”.
“Other than a nuclear device or some other type of destructive weapon, the threat to our infrastructure, the threat to our intelligence, the threat to our computer network is the most critical threat we face,” he added.
US experts talk of “cybergeddon,” in which an advanced economy – where almost everything of importance is linked to or even controlled by computers – is sabotaged by hackers.
An online attack of that scale has not yet happened in the United States but computer hacking – once something of a sport for brilliant delinquents – is rapidly evolving around the world as a tool of war.
Russian hackers allegedly mounted huge assaults on Internet networks in Estonia and Georgia last year, while Palestinian sympathisers have orchestrated attacks against hundreds of Israeli websites in the past few days.
I can think of lots of bigger threats than hackers.
- Flu Pandemic
- Ponzi schemes which bilk billions from investors
- Housing Market Collapse
- Crush of illegal immigrants
- Al-queda bastards flying planes into buildings
- Poisoning municipal water supplies
And as I blogged earlier, calling Jews nasty names on a defaced website does not come any where near to the power of a tank rolling down the street. It is simply not the same thing. Dolts that run around screaming about “Cyber Pearl Harbors” and “Cybergeddons” should be ignored as fearmongers.
I wonder why no one ever equates cyber attacks with drowning polar bears and manmade global warming? According to lunatics, Global Warming is the greatest catastrophe that will hit mankind and end the world as we know it, NOT Armageddon.
Don’t get me wrong, cyber security is critical- but no one has died as the result of a cyber attack. And certainly no cyber attack will be so strong as to prompt the return of Jesus Christ and his Army of Saints.
