Reason 142 to Homeschool: Obama Teachers Won’t Bully Kids Who Support McCain

Wow, this post has gotten quite a bit of Attention. This is a video of Diantha Harris, a lifelong democrat and avid Barack Obama supporter. She is also a lousy schoolteacher, as is evidenced by the mushmouthed kids in her class. And instead of concentrating on grammar and English, math and science, she abuses and ridicules any child who dares to speak up in support of John McCain. This video is part of a Finnish documentary on Obama fans, and it is shocking that you have to go to a foreign country to learn what goes on in our own classrooms.
See how she singles out the little white girl and mocks her for having an absent parent, who is off defending the country, and lies to her, saying her Dad would have to stay in Iraq for a hundred years? The little girl was ready to cry! Disgusting.
Diantha Harris: It’s a senseless war! [Stares at Kathy.] And by the way, Kathy, the person that you’re picking for president said [Harris shakes her head] that our troops could stay in Iraq for another hundred years if they need to! [Kathy bites her lip, looks ashamed. Other kids stare at Kathy, laugh, smirk.] So that means that your daddy could stay in the military for another hundred years!
[Kathy is on verge of tears.]

Diantha Harris: Now I can support whomever I want to support, as long as I don’t browbeat another person for the candidate that they supported. Like I have some students that support John McCain, and when they told me that, I said ah … “that’s good’ and I just moved on. So, I think that everybody is entitled to their own personal opinion.
You know, the schools are banning kickball, dodgeball and tag on the playgrounds because they are afraid of bullies. Seems to me the bullies are the ones with the chalkboard erasers. Lots of thanks to Akira here for the video and the transcript.

The school superintendent has launched an investigation. Here is what he wrote on the school website here about Diantha Harris’ classroom conduct.
I was shocked when I saw the clip of an interaction between a Cumberland County Schools teacher and her students as posted on YouTube. While neutral discussion of the political process is appropriate, at no time, particularly with elementary students, should a teacher infuse his/her political views into the discussion. Most disconcerting was the military slant that made its way into this discussion. We are a military community, serving over 15,000 military students and their families. We value the sacrifices, not only of the military parents but also those of their families.
We believe that military children are our children, military spouses are many of our employees, and military service men and women are our heroes. We proudly serve our military children and have received national awards for our support of military families.
I was particularly disturbed to see the uncomfortable position in which our children were placed due to the inappropriate actions of one of our teachers. Please be assured that the actions exhibited in this video are not consistent with the vision of the CCS. Moreover, the actions of one teacher do not represent the 7000 employees in our organization.
Once the video was brought to my attention, I immediately launched an investigation. Personnel laws prevent me from releasing information regarding individual employees and personnel action taken. I can assure you that upon completion of the investigation, I will take appropriate action.

BTW, I wouldn’t be too smug about Swedish schools – I regularly listen to Radio Sweden and so know all about the schools with 100% Muslim classes where they learn to “be tolerant of Muslims” and the schools where boys are forced to come to school in dresses with girl’s names, and the schools where boys aren’t allowed to piss standing up [they’ll become too dominant and arrogant if they do …]. Therefore: “Like mosts swedes I supported Obama”
I’m sure Obama would love Sweden, where alien hordes rape the young Abba-clones and the Swedish men apologize ad nauseum to the barbarians for not making life cozy enough.

I have been a practicing physician for over 25 years, and I placed my children in private school so they would not have to be exposed to this kind of nonsense. Ms. Harris is most likely protected by a strong union and tenure and could only be forced to resign or retire due to the union’s grievance and state civil service laws. By all rights, she should be brought up on a full disciplinary and tenure revocation session, but she never will be. She will take her hardly earned state teacher’s pension and retire early if forced to do so. Then she will sell her story to some Hollyweird whacko who wants to make her into a martyr. Years ago, the standards of civility would have had her leaving town immediately to avoid her well-earned public harassment, but now she is a celebrity. How times and morals have changed for the worse.
As someone who lives in Asheville NC (and did not vote for obama) I am really not surprised by this. I moved here from a conservative community a few months ago to attend UNC Asheville and it was a culture shock. Obama’s face was all over campus and big “help elect Obama” posters were everywhere. Moveon.org went around registering people to vote if they said they would vote for obama. if not, they didn’t register them. it’s terrible. But I wore my Palin button with pride 😀

Take the time to get to know your kids public school teacher and you will teach your kids at home. I first said this 20 years ago and it is more true than ever. Get involved. Know what you child is learning.
This is beyond wrong. This is outragous. Its true, I just graduated from high school and the teachers in my school made sure that you felt that the liberal way is right and the GOP is wrong, a bunch of waraholics, and in some cases, the devil. The teachers would say that the GOP dosent care about us or the country but them-selves. I personally believe that politicians in general dont care about the people and that dosent bother me. The people should worry about themselves. People need to stop thinking that these politicians are going to pay for our mortgages, they must be hallucinating. If you owe money, YOUR FAULT. I shouldn’t have to pay for no one. The liberals are very good at pursuading the public in believing that they would help at least the lower class which most of the time dosent even pay taxes. At least to my eyes, the liberals are playing a very dangerous game and I strongly believe that they know exactly what kind of game. This is not looking good at all. We need to keep alive the thought of our Country First, and most importantly, our Christian Views in our hearts.

this teacher should lose her license to teach those students were made to feel like they were wrong in wanting mccain and to tell that little girl her dad could be in iraq for another hundred yrs is inhumane…..but it took a person from another country to bring this out is what bothers me …….this has been going on for a long time
I called the school
I called the school district and I asked if Ms Harris worked for the school district. The lady who answered the phone replied, “Yes, unfortunately”. I asked what was being done to respond to this injustice. She replied that a serious response was be forthcoming and it would be posted by the superintendent on the district website. Ms. Harris not only needs to be fired, she should be ridiculed and banned from the teaching profession. She is a leftist.

I just surfed to the school’s website and left an e mail expressing my outrage for the Administrator. I suggest everyone do the same.
This Thanksgiving, I’ll be off to a large family gathering where I’ll be able to thank several of its members for their hard work and dedication, toiling in rural areas to teach children just like these. I’m awed by them because they work in substandard conditions for long hours for poor pay. But their love and caring, supported by their deep religious beliefs, brings them joy and they know they make a difference. I’m appalled by what I saw on the video, but there are good teachers everywhere. We all know the problems; it’s that the solutions often seem so out of reach.
THANK GOD THIS TEACHER ISN’T IN CT. SCHOOL. SHE IS A THE WORST TEACHER I’VE EVER SEEN. I JUST HOPE HER PARENTS TOOK HER OUT OF THAT SCHOOL AND SHE GOT HER BLACK ASS FIRED. I am ashamed for the person that thinks that she is a teacher……for a teacher, if this is what you can call her, speaks of the military that is protecting us day and night and giving up their personal lives to protect us and to speak to a daughter/son of the military, well that was is beyond all belief….i cannot believe that this person is permitted to ? teach our children she should be on the look out for a new job as this is NOT her calling….I am appalled that a school district would put up with this behavior….

I have been homeschooled since I was four (now fourteen). I was wondering if there is a book called, ‘Educayshun 4 dummeez’, or, ‘Hire teecheng for ideeots.’ If so, I reccomend it to this…morinic-racist-witch.

I read somewhere this woman is actually teaching in FAYETTEVILLE NC which is right next to Ft Bragg. This seems all the more heinous as Fayetteville prides itself on it’s “Hometown Heroes”. I guess the school district doesent necessarily feel the same way. Nothing is too good for the soldiers… and that is what they will get – nothing good! Take this this public school education for their children as an example. Shameful…

My elected Democrat friends have trumped your homeschooling. With no checks and balances in the congress, they already have on the docket to make homeschooling illegal. So how many of you complainers knocked on doors for McCain? How many got involved in the political process? How many gave money to buy congresspeople so they would vote for vouchers?
No? Then don’t complain, you got what you deserve.
Oh, you have not seen anything yet. “Indoctrination” into anti-social cult behaviors, (i.e. if you are Christian parents who bring your children to church), will be regarded as child abuse. You don’t need to challenge that statement, just wait a while.

if a white teacher said that to a black student, al sharpten and his gang would be picketing the school, demanding the teacher be fired. also it would be on the five a’clock news. can someone explain to me why blacks are always being discriminated against, but not whites when the same thing happens?
