Pet Ownership Monumental FAIL

I have never understood why some people keep huge snakes as pets. Perhaps they want other people to think that they are somehow more badass than everyone else. And when they name the snake “Diablo” then I’m certain that they want the world to think they are more badass than everyone else. Finally, when they allow the snake to strangle their wife to death, I think they can strap on that oversized Wrestlemania belt that declares to the world that they are indeed the most badass pet owner in the whole suburban subdivision! Or maybe it just means they are stupid.

From HamptonRoads.com here:

“Medicate Diablo.” The message, scrawled on a whiteboard, referred to Amanda Ruth Black’s pet python. A few feet away, its container was empty. On the floor, Black, 25, lay dead.

Black’s husband had returned to their townhouse late Tuesday night and called police after finding his wife’s body. A preliminary autopsy showed that Black died of asphyxiation by neck compression. The 13-foot-long tiger reticulated python apparently overpowered her as she tried to administer medication to it.

Black apparently was trying to use a syringe to squirt medication into Diablo’s mouth when it turned on her.

I’m sure the husband of the dead woman will now go out and get a cool tattoo to both remember his dead wife and to keep proving he is a badass dumbass.

At least she didn’t die being humped to death by her pet camel.

Do not talk about fight club. Oops.

  • I got fan mail on this post. It seems that the emailer hasn’t quite figured out how blogs work, so I will post her comments for here. She wrote:

You really ought to research the story before you comment on it in such a thoughtless, ignorant manner. Amanda worked with snakes, was an experienced snake handler and Diablo was as much her pet as it was Wes’. There was no badass about their owning snakes. It was all about saving them from owners who wanted to be badass, bought the snakes, found out they were not only NOT badass but were also irresponsible enough to abandon them, let them starve or escape so someone else would have to be responsible. When you go online and write this trash, there are probably other ignorant people out there just like you who believe it. Now, are you badass enough to print this, or
do you just not have the balls. Karen McMillen, Windsor CA

  • Amanda was an experienced snake handler? No, I don’t think so. I could do that job as poorly as Amanda did.

And if they were running a “snake rescue” out of their little condo, then they failed at that too. Last I heard, real professional snake wranglers are now watching Diablo.

I also said that Amanda and her husband (Wes was it?) are stupid for having such an animal in their home. I’m glad to see that the authorities have stepped in to protect the remainder of that family from their own stupidity. If they had children, this would have likely been even more tragic.

“Experienced Snake Handler” = bitten multiple times, at least one near death experience. (or worse)
