Propaganda Spam on Georgia-Russia War
My inbox has seen an uptick in the amount of spam from Germany that pushes a Russian lie that it was Georgia that actually started the war, and not the Russian invasion. Accompanying the “Spamaganda” was a video from FoxNews in which a 12 year old girl from San Francisco, Amanda Kokoeva, lies to Shepard Smith saying Georgia actually started the war. A post-communist leftist family pushes their daughter to propagandize for Russia on the news? From San Francisco? The hell you say! Here is the video.
The email is in German, but the translation says:
A small girl speaks the truth about Georgian attacks: http://youtube.com/watch?v=H8XI2Chc6uQ (YouTube manipulates the call counter and does not leave this video becomes not popular) 2000 dead ones within 2 days by Georgian attack – RIP For all children, Mrs., men by Georgian attacks died start we this action. I am not sure how this email is spreading, but I suspect strongly that it is due to botnet activity. The email address receiving the “Spamaganda” (I am copyrighting that word) is an alternate unpublished email address for my website- so you can rule out webcrawling spiders that gather email addresses. This is definitely activity against a spamlist, but the sources suggest a botnet. Back in 2005, the Sober worm spread propaganda for the German rightwing party of NPD according to PCWorld.
In times of War, the Internet will continue to be used as a vehicle to spread propaganda and conspiracy theories. Moonbats are already pointing to this video to support their wild theories that Bush was actually behind the invasion.
