Drama For Sale! Russian Firm Buys Live Journal
Russian company SUP has bought Live Journal from Six Apart. The deal’s amount is undisclosed, but it is no where near the level that NewsCorp paid for MySpace.Com.
From PCWorld here:
Russian online media company SUP acquired blogging and community site LiveJournal from Six Apart on Monday, giving the company ownership of Russia’s most popular blogging site.
SUP and Six Apart first partnered in October 2006 to launch the Russian version of LiveJournal, which accounts for 28 percent of LiveJournal’s audience.
It’s the second time LiveJournal has changed hands: In 2005, Six Apart purchased it from founder Brad Fitzpatrick. Six Apart said that during its stewardship of the site the number of accounts grew from 5 million to 14 million.
SUP has established a new U.S. company, LiveJournal Inc., to operate LiveJournal, based in San Francisco, it said Monday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
And with the sale goes all of the teenage drama and angst. For fun, you can use the Live Journal Drama Generator here to try to get that goth/emo/cutter/furry vibe. The output looks something like this:
iconery told me that _crooked_halo told happyfreak and insert_token that I got caught talking to ladythor and talking crap about aface. What a crock!
What sucks is that 20one said they wanted to go to the movies but I got sick and couldn’t go :-(.
Hey and know what? mom & dad was totally unfair to me Monday and now now I can’t go to the mall with people :-(.
And also everybody has asked why I’m leaving the trekkie fandom but the answer is simple: Some of you know who you are and why I’m leaving FOREVAR.This entry automatically generated by the LJ Drama Generator!
