Marilyn Manson Finds a Paintbrush
Bryan Warner, aka Marilyn Manson is not the first musician to pick up a paint brush to try to make a name for himself. Many singers and songwriters have given painting a try, and it seems to be a natural extension for their creativity.

But the art is about what you would expect from an aging goth that is still trying to shock more than be creative.
One art critic from the Moscow times provided a scathing review, but did note that he has “a degree of artistic competency.”
From the Moscow Times here, via TMZ:
It may be a surprise to learn that Marilyn Manson dabbles in fine art.
Manson’s artworks are the predictable result of a goth playing with watercolors: vile images in pastel pinks and rosy reds. The real surprise is that some works show a degree of artistic competency.
“Ready or Not Tot” is the head of a bloated child who looks like he is belching; uneven, crossed eyes stare malevolently and his face is a wash of pinky reds and green, the bottom lip drooping down, revealing a row of menacing teeth.
Manson’s women are painted with the crude enthusiasm of a child who has stumbled upon the physical difference between a male and a female.
A particularly gruesome painting is a woman pictured with genital-like wounds emerging on her knee, below her bellybutton and near her face. It’s elaborately titled “Elizabeth Smart: You’re Sure You’ll Be Comfortable?” and refers to the American teenager who was abducted from her house in 2002 and placed into a forced marriage with her captor.
In another distinctive painting, titled “Alice,” a nude blonde with blurred, puffy lips is depicted with a pig erupting from a cut on her right breast.
I’m one of those types that doesn’t really believe that there is such a thing as “bad art.” There are bad artists, whose works just become an extension of their mediocrity.
But in this case, Bryan Warner’s artwork is not bad. It may lack maturity, but if he keeps at it he may produce something awe inspiring. Or maybe not.
