MTV Print Ads Brag About Making You a Moron

I saw this at VH1’s Best Week Ever blog. Which is ironic because they work for the same company and VH1 would never have started without MTV pioneering the business.  The Copyranter’s Blog here has the story.

There are two ads to point out. The first is a side-by-side photo of Madam Marie Curie, who trailblazed the use of radioactivity and was the first woman who won the Nobel Prize. The other photo is Britney Spears.

The next ad shows a photo is Alexander Fleming, who discovered penicillin. Next to him is Bryan Warner, aka Marilyn Manson.

But the ads are clear in their intent. The old icons of genius; the heroes; the role models are gone. Now the new role models are Britney and Warner. And MTV is very proud of diluting the culture to the point where people are morons who worship trashy whores and nutcases.
