Jena 6 Criminal Mychal Bell Back in Jail

Mychal Bell, the thug who stomped on the face of Justin Barker, was sent back to jail. It seems that stomping on white kid’s faces is a violation of his probation. And since he violated the terms of his probation of an earlier conviction, the judge sentenced Bell to serve his jail sentence. 18 months for battery and destruction of property.

Bell was all smiles when he was released from jail Sep 27th. I somehow think the smiles are gone now.

Oh, and Al Sharpton is pissed about it too. From the AP here:

A judge ordered a black teenager back to jail, deciding the fight that put him in the national spotlight violated terms of his probation for a previous conviction.

Mychal Bell of the Jena Six case, is accused of beating a white classmate, had gone to juvenile court in Jena on Thursday expecting another routine hearing.

Instead, state District Judge J.P. Mauffrey Jr. sentenced Bell to 18 months in jail on two counts of simple battery and two counts of criminal destruction of property.

“He’s locked up again,” Marcus Jones said of his 17-year-old son. “No bail has been set or nothing. He’s a young man who’s been thrown in jail again and again, and he just has to take it.”

Here is a newsflash to the man who, prior to his son becoming famous for being a criminal, wanted nothing to do with being his father: They don’t set bail when they lock you up to serve your sentence on a conviction. You have to wait to see if he gets paroled for good behavior now.

Al Sharpton reacted swiftly upon learning Bell was back in jail Thursday. “We feel this was a cruel and unusual punishment and is a revenge by this judge for the Jena Six movement,” said Sharpton, who helped organize the protest held Sept. 20, the day Bell was originally supposed to be sentenced.

Bell’s parents were also ordered to pay all court costs and witness costs, Sharpton said. “I don’t know what we’re going to do,” Jones said. “I don’t know how we’re going to pay for any of this. I don’t know how we’re going to get through this.”

Maybe rich uncle Al Sharpton can pay your court costs. But for those who like to chant “No justice, no peace,” since there’s been justice served, can we have a little peace now? Just let it go. But I know you won’t.
