Dollars and Cents at Verizon

I like Verizon as a company. I use their FIOS for TV and high-speed internet, and I think its great. But their call center may be staffed exclusively by little-brains.

I stumbled on this awesome and hilarious picture below on FARK yesterday and I decided to track down the origin of the story. I really don’t know how I missed out on this meme.

This check is written by Randall Munroe, the creator of the XKCD online comic strip here. The check was in support of George Vaccaro’s hilarious and ridiculous encounter with the Verizon call center staff on his blog here.

If you have the time, you simply have to listen to the recorded customer service call and shake your head sadly as normal adults cannot grasp the difference between dollars and pennies, and are completely baffled by the use of decimals and fractions.
