Great Beach Weekend

We had the first travel away from home weekend with the baby, and it went very well.  In fact, it went so well we may have to do it again very soon.  We took a trip to Hampton Roads to visit family, who were wonderful enough to watch the baby while we went to Virginia Beach and to a local pub for drinks.

This was the first time that my wife has really been separated from the baby since he was born 7 weeks ago, and allowing anyone to babysit, even family, was tough for her. 

At one point we were both holding hands and bobbing up and down in the ocean water as the swells washed into shore to the delighted squeals of other tourists and beach-goers.  Not too far from us a school of bait fish were jumping out of the water, and a chevron of Pelicans were skimming the waves in perfect formation.  My wife turned to me and said, “I miss the baby.”

To which I replied, “What??!  Why??!”
