Amazon Now Selling Groceries
I went out to Best Buy last night to get the re-release album of the Traveling Wilburys. It was going to be a Father’s Day gift for my Father-in-law (I don’t think he reads the blog, so its not like I’m ruing a surprise) because Tom Petty with Orbison, Harrison and Dylan were at one time his favorite band. But those blue-shirted acne victims that staff the Big Box Electronics store couldn’t get their hands on my CD for me, despite the fact that their computerized inventory showed that they had 15 in stock.
So I tossed the baggy-pants zit farmer my DVD copy of Ghost Rider and told him that I would get what I needed from Amazon.com.
And today I found out that my favorite online store is now selling non-perishable groceries. This seems like a great logical next move for a store that is competing to become the “Walmart of the Internet.” But if groceries weren’t cool enough, they are now also selling goods by subscription. This means that as a new parent, I can get diapers delivered to my door every week. Or formula. Even baby wipes.
For larger families, you can subscribe to have Cap’n Crunch cereal delivered every week, along with popcorn, coffee, detergent, corn muffins and tomato soup.
You can go to Amazon yourself or just click the banner below, which gives me a modest referral bonus, to you know, help a brother out.
