Vegans Kill Baby with Diet of Soy and Stupidity

This enrages me.  A vegan couple, Jade Sanders and Lamont Thomas, fed their baby soy milk and apple juice instead of breast milk or formula.  The baby died at 6 weeks of age, weighting just 50 ounces.  Apple juice is a diuretic and it blocked any protein coming from the soy.  The soy was clearly labeled “not a substitute for baby formula.”

The skinny disgusting vegan bitch of a mother (may she rot in prison) was wracked with so much malnourishment she could not lactate enough to feed her child.

ATLANTA (AP) – A vegan couple were sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for the death of their malnourished 6-week-old baby boy, who was fed a diet largely consisting of soy milk and apple juice.

Superior Court Judge L.A. McConnell imposed the mandatory sentences on Jade Sanders, 27, and Lamont Thomas, 31. Their son, Crown Shakur, weighed just 3 1/2 pounds when he died of starvation on April 25, 2004.

The couple were found guilty May 2 of malice murder, felony murder, involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children.  A jury deliberated about seven hours before returning the guilty verdicts.

Defense lawyers said the first-time parents did the best they could while adhering to the lifestyle of vegans, who typically use no animal products. They said Sanders and Thomas did not realize the baby, who was born at home, was in danger until minutes before he died.

But prosecutors said the couple intentionally neglected their child and refused to take him to the doctor even as the baby’s body wasted away. “No matter how many times they want to say, ‘We’re vegans, we’re vegetarians,’ that’s not the issue in this case,” said prosecutor Chuck Boring. “The child died because he was not fed. Period.”

Another case of child neglect and starvation due to veganism is here.  In this case, they were feeding the child nuts and beans.  The kid got sick and finally protective services removed the child.  The parents almost got custody back, but the father said the baby was looking “chubby” so they stopped visitation entirely.

EMS workers rushed the baby from her Queens home to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with developmental problems, a distended abdomen, fractured bones, a vitamin deficiency called rickets and a lung disorder — all caused by malnutrition, authorities said.

The Swintons, who say they approach veganism as a religion, fed the child a diet of “ground nuts, fresh-squeezed fruit juices, herbal tea, beans, cod liver oil and flax seed oil,” a complaint said.
 
Even when doctors told the couple their baby was on the brink of death in November, both parents insisted “there was nothing wrong” and were resistant to treatment, the complaint said.

Several months on a healthy diet have helped the 20-month-old to achieve the functions of a 10- to 12-month-old baby, but the child is still struggling, authorities said.

The Swintons have been allowed supervised visits with their daughter — but ACS has asked that a judge order them stopped after the father said he thought the child was getting “chubby,” sources said.

There are lots of people who will say “being a Vegan is okay” or “there’s nothing wrong with that.” Yes.  There is something wrong with it.  And when you use idiotic vegan ideas to starve a baby, you should be locked away forever.
