Beef Stew Over a Firepit

We loved the beef stew we made during our last camping trip so much that we went out and got ourselves a firepit. The firepit is 30 inches in diameter and about a foot deep. We tossed a couple of logs on the pit and let them burn down to coals and we made our beef stew in our dutch oven.

The stew recipe is here. We used a can of guiness and only cooked the stew for a little over an hour, or until the veggies were fully cooked and the stew a nice thickness. It turned out great. You could cut the beef with a spoon. Yum!
