Pay 7 Million for a Photo
And it gets leaked onto the Internet.
From the BBC Here:
Hello! sues over Jolie photo leak
The official photos of Shiloh Pitt are believed to have sold for $7m
Hello! magazine is taking legal action to stop websites publishing a leaked picture of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt with their newborn daughter Shiloh.
The photo “has been obtained totally illegally,” said the magazine’s features editor, Juliette Herd.Jolie and Pitt sold the photos through picture agency Getty, with all proceeds going to charity.
Both Hello! and Getty say they will seek damages from any internet sites which reproduce the picture.
Note that I have not reproduced any photos. I linked to it. Also, since this blog often deals with cyber crimes, a thumbnail or smaller and degraded version of the photo can be used under fair usage since it deals with the reporting of the facts of the cyber theft in this case.
If this photo was worth 7 million dollars, someone at Hello! should have protected it and not allowed anyone with a digital camera access to the photo. Would you carry 7 million dollars in cash to your neighborhood bank without an armed guard and security measures in place? No. Hello! should have kept this under armed guard and protected it like it was a trade secret.
And besides, its a baby. Big deal. If I was Brad, I would get a DNA test to make sure its his.
